We were dropped back to where we had been picked up the night before, I hoped that the crowds would disperse as there is nothing worse than worrying that when you get to your destination everywhere is full, It just adds stress and is not what the Camino is all about,
For those that do or do not know the Camino the central area is called the Meseta, Its a large plateau that for some reason some people think is boring, Internet chatter gets around and before you know it people will skip and will bus from Burgos to Leon, My personal opinion is that they are really missing out, yes its flatter but not flat, The countryside changes during the day and its a lovely walk and a great place to think and contemplate,
We started off early and made our way along the Camino watching the sun rise, First village with a bar open we stop and refuel with coffee, I had a view to walking to Castojerez but am open minded and try not to make plans, Walk until you feel you have had enough, We walk through a mix of wide trail and narrow single track before we get to walk on some road heading towards Castrojerez, Its very nice with a quite tree lined quiet roads, I stop and get some shots of ruins and before you know it Castrojerez id in view, You can see the town at the base of a hill with a castle on top, It turns out to be one of my favorite towns on the Camino, Stunning and one to return to in the future, I am still walking with Ulrik and after a stop for lunch we decide its still early and to push on and get over a large hill at the end of town and walk to Itero, Who said that the meseta is flat, The hill is very steep and takes over 30 minutes to climb, The view from the top is well worth the effort, We walk along and then what goes up must come down and there is a steep decent, My knee is getting better and better so i take it easy coming down as so not to go back to square one. We walk on to Itero and i am done, Another 30km or 18.6 miles under my belt
Windfarms everywhere
The end of the road for someones boot
First town for breakfast
Nice walk on tree lined roads
